Encouragement Procedures
Class
Encouragement at the class level begins with making high yet attainable expectations. High expectations must mean more than academically difficult as there is little motivation for students to strive simply because the task is difficult. The learning goals must be such that students see them as engaging, important to their lives and hopefully even fun. All students are motivated, the trick is to ensure they are motivated to engage in the task at hand in the classroom.
Individual
Motivation must be internal and be used to guide the efforts and achievements of each student. Understanding the needs that drive student motivation is important in allowing me to work with each student to ensure they are motivated and engaged in the learning task at hand. Students are freed to engage in the learning process through a safe environment, love and belonging, empowerment, freedom and fun.
